Greetings,

I've been experimenting with print management software, and I intend to purchase a full version within two months. One particular demo that I am using (printers plan) has default costs for labor and materials that are preinstalled in the program. Their reps told me that this is based on a national average. My question is this: Are there any "average" charges for print services and materials that are available for the Northeastern US? (NJ) If so,where can I find this information.

Thanks,

Steve

I do not know of a standard for a specific region. I do know Crouser and Assoc. has a book you can buy that has what they call Low, Medium and High. You use whichever one you want based on how much you want to mark a job up. We buy one every 3-5 years just to see if our prices or in line or not.

Samitran, I would recommend doing your own time studies. I worked for a large 34 million per year facility and now a smaller 7million per year facility and both have had this work out well. They did time studies for making a proof downloading files and anything else that takes more than ten seconds of anybody's day. All of the time where figured into a hourly cost for the light bill ect.. then that was the burden rate for an hour. We now use software to track our time for every job and they just run reports to see if we are staying within times for each process. It was amazing how far off the charges whee before they did the studies. You could also try the GATF for industry standards. Hope it helps.
